These are brand new, in the package fire storm batteries, at a great price. If you have problems with a Black & Decker 18v charger, switch over to a Dewalt charger, it works just fine, and is a much better charger. The charger is the weak link to the B & D firestorm drill.

I haven't owned a chainsaw before. I wasn't sure if I need a chainsaw for the light to medium trimmings I am going to do around the yard of our new home. To operate cordlessly and not running gas are two major considerations. I like what the Alligator Lopper does. Again, I can't compare it to a chainsaw. But it is very easy to use. And it cuts the tree branches effortlessly. The thicker limbs may require some muscle. It is difficult to cut something beyond your height, because your have to raise it high and press the blades together. I *imagine" it would be easier to swing a chainsaw overhead to reach higher places.

Regular chainsaws scare me. This is great!!! I can cut and trim just about anything in my yard with this. They say it only cuts up to 4" pieces, but you can go larger just by turning and readjusting the angles of the saw. Don't know how I lived without one of these. A must have for women/men who like yard work. It works so well I gave my pruner away.

I don't usually do reviews but I love my alligator chain saw. We have 5 acres and lots of yard work to do. My father has a regular chain saw but I can't even lift that. Plus, it's pretty dangerous. I've always used hand loppers and a hand saw if I need to cut a tree or branch. It's tedious work. These things slice through most things under 3 or 4 inches even plants that are hard as a rock like cedar. It's a little bit heavier than I'd like but I can manage it. I can now prune a butterfly bush with all the hard dead branches in minutes. Adding oil can be a pain but it's better than having to use gas too. Don't use it to prune leafy bushes with small pieces as those will jam up and require cleaning it out. Read all the directions. If you have a lot of yard work and need help, you need this. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Black & Decker is a fraud. Now that I have your attention, let me back that up: while searching for a good cordless cultivator, I found an article on eHow on the subject. It was obviously written by a Black & Decker employee, since all it does is advertise the wonders of this device.

Now, if the company stoops so low as to post an ad under the guise of "advice," do you think they'd influence their rating on Amazon, by padding it with glowing praise? I do. Especially now that I've tried it.

The thing is useless. It would only churn the softest dirt, stuff so soft I might as well have been using my shoe. If you have huge tracts of soft dirt, this thing isn't a good buy because it doesn't cover much area. And if you have a smaller lawn or garden area, just use a pole-mounted cultivator or hoe, which will run you $10-$15. Even a fancy rotary one only costs around $30, but I can't speak to how good those are.

But if you don't believe me, try it yourself. Buy one at a local hardware store and test it. The thing has a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. But I can't recommend buying it online before you've tried it.

I bought this item when it first came out several years ago from the local Lowe's store. I have used it over and over again. It breaks up the hard soil around weeds and grass. It is not designed to pull weeds. However, the soil falls away from the weeds and grass so easily when using this product. It is not heavy but made very well. It is a sturdy item. If used in wet soil naturally clogs will form between the tines but are easily rinsed out with a garden hose with no problem. It will save much back breaking time. The battery last longer than I ever thought on one charge. Unbelievable performance. This cultivator helps me break up the soil and prepare the soil for my NEW flower beds with ease!! Love it!!

I purchased the Black & Decker GC818 garden cultivator to turn soil in a home garden about 12 x 18 feet in size. The soil had not been turned in several years and was somewhat compacted and full of roots. The thought of turning the soil by hand brought visions of an afternoon of hard labor and an evening of sore muscles. The Black & Decker unit made the job a snap. It churned the dirt to a depth of about 4 inches. The unit worked like a charm and let me do the entire job in about an hour -- about the length of time a full charge of its battery lasts. The motor appears to be strong and the blades are made of thick steel. For my purposes the cultivator was perfect. I think the unit might not work so well with dirt that is highly compacted, consists mostly of clay, or is full of large rocks. I am happy with the purchase and would not hesitate to do it again.

This thing has some real power for something so small. I used it yesterday to remove some 3.5" screws from some kitchcen cabinets, and although it let me know it was a tough job, it did the job, and had plenty of mojo left for other things. Comes with a good assortment of bits, but the drill bit falls out easily (an issue I also had with the bits in the Pivot Plus that I owned previously). Be sure to read the manual for proper battery care (for example: can't really leave it in all the time, needs to be used, or at leat undocked, monthly).

Very handy to have around, and slips on and off the charging stand easily.

When I bought this, I thought it would solve the problem of screws falling off the bit.

I am disappointed in this tool. The little magnetic arm gets in the way and makes the tool awkward. I find that the screwdriver itself is not well balanced. I have other cordless screwdrivers that I find to be much more comfortable to use - one is a Skil and one a Denali. I like the Skil best because of the holster that came with it and it seems to be the best balanced.

The B&D unit also has adjustable torque, but I never use it. It is always on high - so that feature is wasted on me. Since this tool is considerably more expensive than the others, you are paying for the adjustable torque and the magnetic extension - both of which are not necessary.

If you are looking for a nice cordless screwdriver, I recommend the Skil and then get a good magnetic bit holder.

Great little gadget but low on power. We had another electric screwdriver in the past that really outdid this one. But once you buy it and use it, you're stuck with it. You have to make sure the red light is lit or it won't charge. It doesn't sit really well on the charging things. Great for hanging pictures and light jobs. Just don't try hanging window blinds with it.

I work on copiers for a living and this is the perfect little screwdriver for removing and installing small machine screws. I also own a similar sized Skil and it doesn't have near as much torque as the Black and Decker (but the Skil is a little smaller in size which is nice). I wanted to try the Skil and it gives me a backup for when my batteries run down on the B&D but if I could only have one it would be the B&D hands down. I have probably 20 mins of run time daily and the battery lasts about 4 days before needing recharged.

This would have been be the last cordless screwdriver I would ever buy if it wasn't for one tiny detail; battery life is horrible. I was very disappointed when I ran out of battery after drilling 8 (eight) 1.5" screws into drywall. Excellent torque on the first four screws though. If you can afford it, I recommend you buy 2 and use them for very light projects since the battery can not be replaced on these. Otherwise, save your money and buy a real cordless drill!

Recieved this yesterday from Amazon with 2 day shipping. Came completely assembled

Trimmed juniper bush (14 years old) and cut through some pretty tough stuff. I do have the grass trimmer and the pole trimmer with 18 Volt batteries. I used two batteries to do about 80 feet of juniper, and used a 3rd battery trimming the lower branches of evergreen trees.

overall worked as described, and very light weight. Good to have a second battery handy. I have gone now with 4 B&D yard tools with the 18 Volt batteries and they are all interchangeable.

I wonder how I went so long without one of these....Great product

That said, believe it or not...I'm keeping it because I don't think there is anything out there better. I don't want gas or electric. To be fair, I was using this on ornamental long grass the tall dried yellow stalks. I have about twenty of them in the yard. I tied them up and figured I'd just motor through them. The trimmer wasn't binding or anything it just took a long time to move through them and it ran out of juice on the 5th one. Now I have to wait the 9-12 hours for the battery to charge to continue the job. Of course, I could buy another batter for $50; but my original idea was not to put to much $$ in the whole trimmer thing. I'm sure it will be fine when I go to trimming the leaves off the top of my bushes. It's just disappointing how everything you buy these days from toasters to hedge trimmers screams "made in China" before you ever look at the sticker.

Received my black & decker hidge clippers 3 days after I ordered them. charged the battery for 24 hours and went to work. I had several bushes to trim and about 7 sets of plants. I was done in 90 min. It cut through quarter inch branches in no time. Took be longer to pick up all the clippings.

I have two ac of land with fences on three sides. This unit has enabled me to walk the fence

line and cut all the brush that grows along (some from my neighbors side of the fence) cut to the bottom. I asked for this particular drill (battery powered) for Christmas - and got it :-) I have several Black & Decker items and am pleased with all of them. Jig saw, two electric drills, weed whacker, tiller, small work bench, wall paper steamer (yes, B&D doesn't make them anymore, but I loved my original one that I had for 20 years, which finally gave out after many hours of use not only by me, but also by some of my office colleagues. But I found a "brand-new/old" one, never used, on e-bay.) Some of those tools might not be suitable for a professional handyman, but for a do-it-yourself woman (or some of the more clumsy, helpless do-it-yourself men!), they are wonderful, reliable products.
