I now own all 3 types of charger, this being my latest purchase.

The slide on type that comes with the units, referred to as "dumb" chargers, tend to shorten the battery life.

The dual chargers, although keep the battery charged with a trickle, don't seem to charge fast.

This one charged all of my batteries fast and it's nice to see when it is charged.

The 1st time we charged our batteries, all of them took longer to charge. But the second time, the charge was within the 1 1/2 hours advertised and the batteries lasted a long time.

We have all of the different types of 18v batteries.. old ones right through to 2 new Firestorm extended batteries.

We also have a re-built one with 2200mah cells in it and this charger is a good match for it. We were able to trim the entire yard with our re-built and 2 firestorms.

Plan on buying a second one this week.

I purchased this B&D cordless blower a few months ago. Being summer, I had little use for it now, waiting for fall to blow gutters and driveways. I am totally disappointed. It takes me 3 BATTERY CHARGES to blow my garage and 40 foot double driveway free of pine needles and maple seeds! I would never buy this product unless you need a blower for a 5 MINUTE job because that is all one battery charge lasts!

Well I thought it would be nice to not have to drag my cord around any more and to have a quick way to blow out the garage.

This thing can not break cob webs loose from the wall. Very weak to say the least. I am really sad as I wanted this thing to work. Yes it may blow grass off my 12x12 back patio but no way would it do my drive way. Run time with good power, maybe 7-10 minutes.

After using it I hooked up my electric blower to actually "clean" my garage.

Certain things just do not work well with a battery.

This is the finest dustbuster I have ever owned! It looks a little funny, but it works like a champ! I use it daily to clean cat litter, cat hair, crumbs, dry cat food and other messes around the house. It's awesome in the car too. It's so powerful that I've never even had to use it's "high power" setting - there's been no need. I've never experienced it dying on me, so the battery has more than enough power for extended daily uses. The nozzle is slender enough to clean the lint trap on your dryer and to do a beautiful job on baseboard dust and tile grout messes! A+++

I like this hand vac. Here are my pros and cons:

PROS:

1. It's powerful and keeps the suction up for a long time. You don't have to keep the vac in the charging cradle constantly.

2. It seems relatively durable for something made of plastic.

3. The noise doesn't bother me at all.

4. It has more than enough suction for my jobs, which are mostly sucking up dust bunnies. But for me, more is better.

CONS:

1. Amazon.com keeps playing with the price. It is easy to think that you paid too much. I might buy another one. I refuse to pay more than $55.00. Just my humble opinion.

2. I wish it was a bit lighter.

3. I sometimes fear that the nose will develop a crack because it seems to be precariously attached to the body. But this may be irrational.

I would buy this hand vac again. I wish everyone else would stop buying this particular model, then amazon would lower the price. If you are interested in buying, put this model in your shopping cart, then check daily for price fluctuations.

Warning: the 1810 model Black & Decker Pivot Vac 18V Cordless Pivoting Hand Vac, PHV1810 seems to me to be a slightly inferior model. I will write a separate review on this model. Take note which model is priced higher, the 1800 or 1810. That with the higher price is selling more. (Not that popularity equals quality!)

I read many of the reviews before purchasing this device. In my opinion it is the best device on the market. I find that it picks up anything that I attempt to vaccum up. I have not found it to loose its charge quickly nor have I found that small pieces fall out. I pick up kitty litter all of the time and it works great. It does equally well on my deep pile carpet. As for the noise level, I dont think it is any louder than any other device on the market however I would suggest that the pitch of the sound it higher and perhaps more bothersome to some people. I tried two other brands and took both back due to terrible performance. I have had it about 1 year and I have not had any problems with it and the performance has not decreased.

"Great general purpose drill" 2010-04-18

I bought this drill kit on a hardware store special for $50, after my Ryobi 12v Drill died (it's really not up for anything more than casual use). It turned out to be an awesome tool, fairly powerful, brilliantly balanced - and consequently very simple to use. I have even used it on a 2.5 inch hole saw when I was installing new cabinets in my kitchen and cutting holes for the plumbing. Issues I have had with the drill, the battery life under consistent use sucks. Don't hold the trigger in when the drill stalls (yes, you can stall this drill on #12 2.5" screws when mounting shelves), and then turn it like a manual screw drive - I know you are not supposed to do this - but then be honest - you have all done this when the battery is about to die - if you do this you will get smoke coming out the back of the drill - and if you don't let the trigger go you will be buying a new drill. This is not a DeWALT Heavy-Duty Drill/Driver- do don't treat it like one. Issues I have had tho, the charger that comes with the drill is stupid, and wrecks your batteries, it also takes forever to charge the drill. Buy the fast intelligent Black & Decker Battery Charger, it will make your batteries last, and it also charges them in around 90 mins. As it is smart, you can leave the batteries on the charger without destroying their remaining life.

As for the stud finder - it sucks - I think B&D just throw it into this kit as they cannot sell it on its own. If you want a really good, cost effective stud finder - buy Zircon StudSensor i65 Center-Finding Stud Finder and toss the one in this kit in the trash, or sell it on craiglist/ebay.

I've used this drill for a few years, about once a month. A fully charged battery doesn't last long about 30-40 min of work. It doesn't have enough juice to be used as a drill and the battery will last about 10 min. Finally, last weekend while assembling furniture from IKEA, sparks and smoke began coming out from back of the drill. I would not recommend buying this drill to anyone, invest into more respectable brands (Dewalt, Makita, Panasonic).

The stud finder is working, definitely it's not a pro grade by any means. It takes some time to get used to it, you have to recheck 2-3 times to make sure it sees the stud correctly.

Well, For a basic cordless drill it is nice in that it charges fast, light weight and easy to use. However, the one I received does not spin true so driving a long screw will be a bit harder than normal.

It has handy features in that it has hex and flat head tips that fit on the back top of the drill so you always have them with you. It also has a bit for holding these tips that also is held on the base. If it wasn't for the wobbling I would rank it a 4.

For the money I have gotten better at Lowes so that's why not a 5.

Haven't used the stud finder yet but that was a nice addition.

I won't return it but won't buy the same model next time I need one.

I've worked in construction and used many different brands of cordless drills, but I really like the Black & Decker for home projects. This 14.4V drill is lighter than the 18V ones I have to use on jobs, but still plenty strong enough to get the home projects done. The battery lasts a long time too. There's just a 5-position clutch, not a 24-position one as it states in the description, and the case it comes with is a joke (it's a vinyl bag with a zipper), but I guess I'm just used to the hard cases I've always had with my cordless drills in the past that offer the drill more protection and have places to carry screws, etc. Even my old 12V B&D drill came with one. The stud finder isn't the best I've ever had, but it works okay, and you can't really complain, since it was free. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and will definitely continue to buy B&D tools. As far as the sale with Amazon's seller, I got it promptly and undamaged, and I have no problems whatsoever with purchasing anything from these people again. Thanks!

2. When correct item received, it did not include stud finder originally included in purchase.

3. When correct item was received, batteries for stud finder were bad, exploded & corrosion was all over inside of drill & case...along with human hair...DISGUSTING!!!

4. Response time adequate, but I won't buy from this seller again, too many problems for what was supposed to be a Christmas gift.

I love my cordless Makita drill, but every time I need to use it, it has to be charged first - not exactly convenient. I bought my dad a small lithium-ion driver last year and got a chance to use when I helped him with a project. It keeps its charge for over a year and is pretty powerful for a compact driver. So, I decided to purchase this B&D driver. I charge it once and store it. Then, when I need it, it's ready to go. It keeps a charge during most small projects and has enough torque to drive 2" screws into concrete. The LED light is an added plus. My only complaint is that the included bits cannot be attached or stored on the driver when not in use. This makes it easy to lose one of the bits. Other than that, it works great!

This order arrived a few days earlier than estimated, worked correctly right out of the box. I am completely satisfied with this vendor. I had set this cordless drill aside years ago after the battery died, and misplaced the charger. What I did not remember is that this particular B&D drill will fall over if you try placing it upright on the battery, breaking any small drill it might have in the chuck. Oh well, good as a backup for my Ryobi.
