If you're looking to replace two batteries and a charger, as I was, don't buy them individually. Home Depot and Amazon both carry the Black & Decker CDC1440K-2. It's a complete drill set, but it comes with two 14.4V batteries, charger, carry bag, and small drill (good as a backup) for $59.99. Buying the two batteries and charger alone is more expensive than the whole drill kit, and you get another drill.

The product was bought as a replacement to the battery that came with my drill. I was unable to find a replacement battery in our area and did not want to buy a new drill just to get a battery. The replacement works great and I did not have to throw away my old drill (new drills have different form factor - probably so you are forced to buy new).

Like many of you I could not find a silver colored replacement battery for my B & D chrome anniversary drill. I just ordered the standard HPB14 battery pack, which is black. Then I used a T10 Torx screwdriver (avail. at Sears, Ace, Home Depot, etc.) to remove the 4 screws under the case. Removing the 4 screws, the battery pack slips right out. Swap batteries and screw case together and you are done. No wiring, soldering, etc. Just lift and place. Now I have a (lame) backup battery for my drill as well. B&D should really make the anniversary battery pack, They must have sold a few of these drills.

I used this battery with the drill about 4 times max in a span of about 3.5 years. Then both batteries and the charger were dead. I took it to a DeWalt / B&D service center and the technician confirmed they were both dead. Another reviewer said the same thing; that they both die. You lose both batteries and charger. Since these are Ni-Cad I used to drain the batteries to avoid memory but another user said one should not drain completely with the charger they recommend, maybe that is the trick. I don't know.
Now I have a B&D drill in mint condition but it's a better investment for me to buy another drill that comes with a better battery life. I found a Lithium powered drill for a good price during Black Friday deals.
