REALLY FABULOUS SAW!! we've got acres of trees and with this I can limb-up wherever I want to go-actually I have 2-I keep 1 long and the other shorter--The key is to get some of the EXTREEM batteries--usually on ebay--they're MUCH MORE POWERFUL AND REALLY LAST A LONG TIME--the dual chargers on amazon are great as well-much faster recharge.
With the extreem batteries they will often run over an hour of constant use-and I cut branches up to 6 to 8"!!! I load up my golf cart with the dogs and pole saws-I have 6 extreem batteries and head out to whatever area I'm working on and can trim for hours
Also got the firestorm blower-hammer drill which work very well on the same batteries. The key to increased output and working time is the extreem batteries--double the power and working time!!

I want to add my positive review for this pole saw. I have used the saw to trim several trees on my residence in Houston, and also on my vacation retreat near Lake Livingston. This pole saw exceeds my expectations in nearly all categories. The saw performs excellent for removing limbs in the range of 1 inch to 3 or 4 inches. I have tightened the chain only once (it was needed). My recommendations to the manufacturer are only the obvious: 1) lighter weight 2) a little less flexibility through the extension section 3) variable speed in response to trigger pressure 4) increased power storage in the battery. Recommendations to the user: A) Remember to lubricate the chain B) Do not use the center extension section if not necessary to reach higher limbs C) For more than casual use, to remove a few limbs at a time, purchase an extra battery. My congratulations to Black and Decker - this is one of my favorite all-time tool purchases! Keep up your good works.

I returned the Pole Chain Saw after only 5 minutes of operation. It labored trying to cut through a 1 inch branch. It took so long that I gave up, and picked up my dull old bow saw, which cut quickly and easily. Do not buy this item.

I did a bit of shopping around before I decided to chose this B&D battery powered chain saw. I was undecided between a gas powered one and electric. Having a good deal of experience with gas powered devices as well as electric devices this model suited my needs better and came at a great value for the dollar. I intend to use it for general tree triming around my 1 acre home in Florida. Here are a few pro's and con's of the unit.
Pros - Has one of the longest extensions available at 14ft. This is 2ft better then the gas powered ones I was considering. Being 6ft + myself, I don't think I will be needing a ladder much. This is a great feature. Charging was pretty quick and efficient. Excellent run time on the battery, able to use it for my entire yard and it did not die even after almost 2 hrs. (Not continuous) Easy to assemble, adjust and use. Not very heavy and easy to menuver. Cuts great and does just what many of the other reviews indicated about going thru 5-6in limbs.
Cons - Box came a little beat up but nothing was broken. Watch when you insert the battery, if you do not push it all the way in and hear the click, the battery will fall out once you tilt the unity up to use it. No other real cons at this time.
If you are a general gardener or handyman this is a great item and I recommend it. You can save hundreds of dollars doing this work yourself and not having to hire a professional with similar tools. Just a few years of clearing dead or overgrown limbs you will have gotten way more then your moneys worth. Great product B&D.
