We can't think of anything we'd want to add to this little hummer. It's incredible what B&D has engineered into this system (we don't think it's fair to call it a "screwdriver"). The product that I recieved as "like new" was hardly that. After charging the thing for three days, it did not work at all. I returned it and purchased another used PD600 and this one was in worse condition than the other like new one I had purchased. I've had it with this seller. Buyer beware!

Love, love, love this item. As an avid female "do it yourselfer" with limited wrist strength this screwdriver is a Godsend! It is a replacement for one I have used for over 4 years. Thanks to the voltage and torque settings this model has more power than anything I have used short of a drill, without the large size and weight of a battery powered drill. It has driven screws and starter holes into pine, oak and particle board. The adjustable angle improves accessibility in awkward spots. The light is wonderful when working in enclosed areas (such as cabinetry).

On average, the original was probably used at least once a week. Over the years it has been used to do everything from tightening screws to assembling furniture, drilling starter holes, putting up shelves and building household items. Any time something had to be assembled or dis-assembled it was there! We keep it plugged in for instant accessiblity and plan to get another to keep in our trailer when traveling.

why did I buy this thing?? Been in the process of phasing out my old B&D versa-pak cordless tools in favor of 14.4 and 18v tools, and just wanted a light-duty screwdriver that didn't use the versa-pak batteries, would mount behind a door in the kitchen, and was convenient when I didn't need a drill/driver. This unit turned out to be a monster, and if you have a 14.4 or 18v drill/driver (as I do), you really don't need this heavy screwdriver - it's redundant.

Ok, it's powerful and does what it's made to do, but I have some other issues with it besides weight and size. It's advertised with a built-in measuring tape, which it didn't have. That's not a big deal for me, but I do like to get what's promised when I open the package. Second, the torque ring was so tight that it was impossible to adjust by hand - actually had to turn it with pliers! Now that it's set to the highest torque setting it won't be changed back, but why was it so hard to adjust in the first place??

In order to plug the charger into it, the driver has to be in the fully straightened position. Makes it almost impossible to hang anywhere. I had assumed that it came with some kind of wall mount - nope. All you can do is lay it on the workbench or table where it's in the way.

I finally gave this unit to my son and bought the B&D 3.6V screwdriver with the retractable screw holder. Comes with a stand that mounts on the wall or sits on a table, smaller and lighter, and just the thing for light duty. Go for that one rather than the big 6V.

I used this so far to install my over the stove microwave and TV mount. It has more than enough power to drill into the wall. Make sure you purchase a good set of drill bits, as it only comes with a screwdriver (philips and flat) bit.

This is my first drill as I am not really a handyman, but it allowed me to successfully complete my first two tasks around my new home.

Battery life is great, perhaps my only complaint is that unless you make sure the drill bit is tightened well, the drill bit may come loose from the driver, but that is more operator error than design issue, so the 5 stars stay for my review..

Bought this rechargeable nailer because I'd had good luck with other Firestorm tools -- hedge trimmer, weed wacker, drill -- and expected similar good performance. I got ten or twelve nails driven before the nailer shut down for good. When I called B&D, they sent me a new battery, but that did not help. I took it to the regional service center and returned it for a refund. I think the power requirements for the nailer were simply more than the battery could provide. I now have an air compressor and nailer that work very well.

Okay....so I'm looking for a reason to love this thing. I mean, I'm a man, it's a gadget. What could be better than that? Well, for a start, it would be nice if this thing could work without breaking. I must be stupid, because I've owned two of these things, and they BOTH BROKE after just a short time (as in in just a few days). I bought my first Firestorm nailer to put crown moulding up in my house, and after less than 200 linear feet of nailing (and we're not talking heavy duty use here), the gun jammed. I followed the directions in the manual (no jam was present), reset the gun, and it jammed again after 1 nail. This went on for about 10 nails before it quit altogether. And then, to make matters worse, I bought ANOTHER one of these pigs and it failed after putting crown up in a 12' X 12' bedroom. This thing is fragile. Fool me once, Black and Decker, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me--I WON'T make this mistake a third time, and if you're smart, neither will you. Caveat emptor.

It is not air driven so there is a small delay on fire but not bad. Very impressed with the power. Knocked 2" nails well below surface of wood. Ideal for home projects, light weight fence work (should always screw a fence together)and perhaps building speaker boxes etc. I'm sure it would be great for wood trim work.

Seems like a quality tool. May buy another before they are gone.

The Firestorm brad nailer is a good tool. I like it! The first one I received was DOA. I'm not sure if B&D would back the tool with a warrenty but Amazon does !

This is why I say that: A card in with the manuel said to call an "800" number before going back to the dealer. It is the hotline to B&D. The person I spoke with told me the Firestorm line was discontinued 2 years ago and to go back to the dealer. I notified Amazon and I had a working replacement before the bad one was picked up! I believe it was 2 days .... Thanks Amazon!

The facts of the case:

Firestorm is gone but B&D isn't. Their batteries remain un-changed and interchangeable ... new or older or B&D or Firestorm.

I am not a heavy user of these tools but I saw only 2 electric brad nailers in Amazon's offerings and one of those had a cord for 110 plug-in. Not as portable.

I only saw one other portable but it was a much larger framing nailer and ran on a butane cartridge. That sounds expensive and it is not a finish nailer.

One other I know of is a framing nailer and uses a CO2 tank carried on your belt.

That sounds expensive and complicated.

All the others use an air compressor and hoses.

BTW: Dewalt has a battery powered brad nailer but over twice the cost. If your tools are B&D/Firestorm that would mean 2 types of batteries.

The Firestorm nailer works great, comes with a selection of nails (buy more!), a battery and charger, and a neat hard case to carry every thing. It really is just the thing! ....... Mark

"Nice toy, poor battery life." 2010-10-04

Looks nice, arrived in the B&D Packing, organizer helped hang everything in the garage. Charged batteries for approx. 24 hrs, the battery life is poor. Used up 2 batteries or about 1000 sq ft of area and the backyard needed three charge cycles and I am still not done so it sits looking nicely in my garage. Handy for small chores but do not get it for serious weed or larger areas.

I have not found anything else that would work either.

I recently purchased this product when it went on sale. I love the flexibility of not being tied to a cord or the noise of a gasoline engine, but the battery life is less than optimal. I have a semi-circle driveway that also connects to the side of our house and easily go through both batteries. The hedgetrimmers work great as does the weed-wacker. The battery life is the only reason I didn't rate it 5 out of 5. I find the battery life is about 10-12 minutes when I'm using the leafblower, and then it takes about 8 hours to recharge (according to the manual). On the weekends I have to plan the use of these tools, for example, trim the yard in the morning, and then blow the walkways, driveways, etc in the afternoon.

I give two out of three tools high marks, but the leaf blower is pretty pathetic. It's perfectly suited for blowing off a patio or porch or sidewalk before company arrives. But the blower sucks so much power from the battery that it doesn't last more than 5 or 6 minutes when it has 'real' work to do. As another user mentioned, at least one of the batteries will no longer hold a charge.

The other two tools are perfectly satisfactory; the hedge trimmer does a nice job on smaller branches but of course isn't meant to tackle serious brush. The weed whacker is my favorite of the tree items and does a wonderful job.

In hindsight I would have bought a better leaf blower had I known it was going to be such a disappointment, but as it is I use it strictly for patio leaves and sidewalk tidying.

On 9/6/09 I purchased the 3 piece CCC3000 lawn care package from Amazon. It came with 3 batteries and a 3 slot charger for $199. On 8/1210 I bought the same CCC3000 for $199 from Amazon, but now it has only 2 batteries & charger. I called " Matt " at B & D who said his notes said there should be 3 batteries I faxed him my receipt, but have heard nothing. Apparently this is how they make money, by ripping off buyers. I have purchased many B & D products in the past, but this the last !

5 Acres and I'm trying to clear invasive woody bush plants such as honeysuckle and autumn olive. Lots of each. For a while I used lopers. What a pain. For a while I used a hand saw. Worked great but a lot of work. I tried a gas chainsaw. Worked great but way overkill for all but the big baddies and I kept picturing myself cutting into my leg. What I wanted was a cordless chainsaw. I read the reviews and I read the opinions about reciprocating saws. I'm betting a reciprocating saw might be better at the task, but this chainsaw is so light and so convenient and so fun to use. The battery is having a good day if it lasts 30 minutes. I use it for a quick pass in the morning and another in the evening and I've cleared more wood than I know what to do with. I don't bother cutting the 6 inch stumps. I cut the 1 to 4 inch branches which can hang way over my head and go back later with the gas saw for the stumps. It is easy to swing around and I simply don't worry about kickback. It's not going to be right for a lot of people but for me and what I'm trying to accomplish it has performed surprisingly well. I'm very happy with this saw. I just need to get a 2nd battery to get some more use out of it.
